Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the GlassHome Hub website, services, and widget registry (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

GlassHome provides a dashboard interface for Home Assistant and a widget registry where developers can publish and distribute widgets. The Service includes the website at glasshome.dev, the widget CDN, the API, and any associated tools.

2. Beta disclaimer

GlassHome is currently in beta. This means:

• Features may change, break, or be removed without notice.
• Data loss is possible, though we make reasonable efforts to prevent it.
• The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
• Uptime is not guaranteed.

3. Accounts

• You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
• You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure.
• One person or entity per account. Shared accounts are not permitted.
• You can delete your account at any time from the dashboard settings. This permanently removes all your data, published widgets, and organization memberships.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, without prior notice.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Publish widgets that contain malware, spyware, or code designed to harm users or their systems.
• Publish widgets that collect user data without clear disclosure and consent.
• Publish widgets that infringe on the intellectual property rights of others.
• Use the Service to distribute content that is illegal or promotes illegal activity.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or systems.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service beyond the public API.
• Resell or redistribute the Service without permission.

5. Widget publishing

Your responsibilities

• You retain ownership of the widgets you publish. By publishing, you grant GlassHome a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, distribute, and cache your widget bundles through the CDN.
• You are solely responsible for the code you publish. Widgets run in other users' browsers, this is a significant trust relationship.
• You must not publish widgets that violate the acceptable use policy above.
• Published versions are immutable. You can publish new versions but cannot modify existing ones.

Our rights

• We may remove any widget at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to policy violations, security concerns, or legal requirements.
• We may unlist widgets from search results without removing them entirely.
• We are not liable for damages caused by third-party widgets. Use community widgets at your own risk.

6. Content takedowns

If you believe a widget infringes your intellectual property or violates these Terms, email us at [email protected] or ping us on Discord with details. We will review and respond to valid requests promptly.

7. Intellectual property

• The GlassHome name, logo, and branding are the property of GlassHome. You may not use them in a way that implies endorsement without permission.
• The GlassHome dashboard application is distributed under its own license. These Terms govern the Hub website and registry services specifically.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• GlassHome is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damages to your smart home devices or Home Assistant installation.
• Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (during beta, this is zero).
• We are not responsible for outages, bugs, data loss, or any issue arising from the beta nature of the software.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless GlassHome from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your published widgets, or your violation of these Terms.

10. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. For significant changes, we will notify users through the site.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of the jurisdiction where GlassHome operates, unless otherwise required by local consumer protection law.
